We aim for high standards of academic achievement across the curriculum. To achieve this children will work in a variety of ways depending upon the objective of the lesson. Children may work as a class in Literacy and Numeracy, in quiet writing sessions or while handwriting or learning tables. They may work in groups set according to ability in particular subjects. They may work in mixed groups to undertake research projects, conduct experiments or create plays. They may work individually where individual tuition is needed.
Children are given clear targets and they are involved in monitoring their progress against these targets where possible.
We offer a broad and balanced curriculum to all pupils. Foundation subjects are taught mainly through thematic work where children are actively involved in investigating the environment
All children will follow carefully planned programmes of work which cover the National Curriculum.
